The Oklahoma Women’s Coalition is excited to announce the naming of our Interim Executive Director, Chelsey Branham. Branham, a Chickasaw citizen, has over 15 years of experience in leadership development, policy, and executive administration in the public, private, and nonprofit sectors, including service in Oklahoma’s 57th State Legislature.
Board chair Laura Lang said that the Board of Directors is pleased to have someone of Branham’s caliber to ensure the organization is able to continue its progress during this leadership transition.
“Chelsey’s experience, talent, and commitment to gender equity are exactly what we need to continue our momentum in implementing our strategic plan and expanding our coalition,” said Lang. “The Board will launch a search for a permanent executive director this month, and we are thankful that Chelsey will be at the helm while we focus on finding the next leader for the organization.”
Branham is stepping in to lead the organization for three to six months while the board conducts a robust search for a permanent executive director. Details of the search process will be posted on the Women’s Coalition website this month.
“As someone well versed in the power public policy has on outcomes for those facing the realities of inequity, the opportunity to lead the Oklahoma Women’s Coalition at such a pivotal time is a responsibility I do not take lightly. We have a great deal of work to do to improve gender equity and systemic injustice in our state, and the many organizations that make up the Oklahoma Women’s Coalition are helping to amplify the voices and experiences of those historically excluded from policy-making decisions,” said Branham.
“I am incredibly appreciative of the tireless work of Liz Charles to steer the organization and set the foundation for the next phase of the Oklahoma Women’s Coalition. I hope to pick up the baton and continue moving our collective forward.”
The Oklahoma Women’s Coalition board appointed Branham in mid-March, and she has already begun the work of connecting with coalition partners. Questions or concerns: email Laura Lang at email@example.com.
