The Oklahoma Women’s Coalition today announced the departure of their Executive Director, Liz Charles. Charles has led the organization for more than three years and brought a fresh strategic perspective to the statewide organization’s efforts.
Board chair Laura Lang said the departure is bittersweet, but she is excited to see what this next chapter of leadership will bring for the coalition.
“I want to thank Liz for her incredible leadership and recognize her critical role in leading the organization toward a new strategic direction, clarity and courage in our guiding principles, and a stronger foundation in terms of both funding and programming opportunities,” said Lang. “It is now the board’s and our coalition partners’ responsibility to ensure we maintain this momentum through the transition and in our selection of the organization’s next executive director.”
Charles is leaving the organization to pursue another opportunity and will continue her work for the community in a new role to be announced soon.
“The opportunity to lead the Oklahoma Women’s Coalition has shaped me and made me better. Our state is stronger as a result of the people working to improve gender equity, and I am honored to have been a part of the effort to amplify and elevate the voices and experiences of those historically excluded from policy-making and decision-making power,” said Charles.
“I look forward to seeing the next phase of the vision and shared goals come to life through fresh leadership and the support of our partners in this new chapter of OWC’s growth – this organization is ready to soar.”
The Oklahoma Women’s Coalition board will soon meet to appoint an interim director while they conduct a search for a permanent executive director. Questions or concerns: email Laura Lang at email@example.com.
